Privacy policy

What this covers

This policy applies to the The Wedding Planner app, the business dashboard and this website. It explains what we collect, why we collect it, who sees it and how long we keep it. We have written it to be read, not to be skimmed; if anything here is unclear, write to hello@theweddingplanner.ae and we will answer plainly.

What we collect from couples

  • An account, if you make one: your name, email address, mobile number, a password we store only as a one-way hash, and the emirate you tell us you are in.
  • Bookings and visits: the date, the number of guests, the event, what you asked for, and a contact name and number - copied into the booking so the business can still reach you if you later change your profile.
  • Bookings without an account: a name and mobile number, so you can find the booking again by its reference and that number. We record the network address the request came from, to stop automated abuse of the guest booking form.
  • Messages: what you write to a business in the chat, and any photos you attach.
  • Plans: the budget, date, guest count and preferences you give the planner, and the plan it produces.
  • Likes and reviews: the businesses you save, and the reviews you leave.
  • Face ID recovery, if you turn it on: a random secret is generated on your phone and stored in its secure keychain, gated by the phone's own biometrics. We never receive your face, your fingerprint or any biometric data - only the secret, when you use it to reset a password.

What we collect from businesses

The account holder's name, email and mobile number; the business's trading and legal names, address, contact details and photographs; the services, packages, halls, prices and opening hours it lists; its trade licence, including the licence document; bank details if it enters them for payouts; and the bookings, messages and reviews that pass through its dashboard. Trade licence documents are stored privately and are read only by our team and by staff of the business they belong to. They are never shown to couples.

Why we collect it

To run the service: to show you businesses, to pass a booking or a message to the business it is for, to let you find a booking again, to let a business answer you, and to keep the platform honest by checking that every business is a licensed UAE business. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who sees it

  • The business you contact or book sees what it needs to serve you: your name, contact details, the booking, and your messages to it.
  • Other couples see only what you publish - a review, under your first name.
  • Our team can see accounts, bookings and messages in order to moderate the platform, resolve a dispute or help you when you ask.
  • Service providers that host the platform or process payments see only what the task requires. Card details entered for a payment go to the payment processor and are never stored by us.

Where it is kept and for how long

Data is stored on servers we operate in the United Arab Emirates. An account and what belongs to it are kept while the account exists. You can delete your account from inside the app; bookings that have already happened are kept, without your account attached, for as long as the business and the law need a record of them. Guest bookings are kept for the same period. Messages are kept with the booking they concern.

Your choices

You can see and correct your details in the app, opt out of marketing messages at any time, delete your account, and ask us for a copy of what we hold about you. Write to hello@theweddingplanner.ae; we will reply within a reasonable time and never later than the law allows.

Children

The service is for adults planning an event. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes

When this policy changes we will update the date at the top and, for anything that matters, tell you in the app.
